v1.0.0
This marks the first official release of FAD-Toolset!
FAD-Toolset is a Python library and collection of tools for modeling and designing arrays of floating structures. The toolset contains:
- Object-oriented component classes of mooring lines, power cables, floating platforms, topsides, and anchors built on a Node/Edge graph structure
- A hierarchical project structure combining design information with site-specific data
- A full YAML-based ontology input/output compatible with the IEA Wind Task 49 Ontology
- Geographic functions to model site-specific data
- Anchor capacity models for multiple anchor types (drag-embedment, suction pile, driven pile, plate, helical, drilled & grouted, and torpedo)
- Mooring and cable design optimization tools
- Floating array layout optimization tools with wake-loss-aware AEP calculations
- Watch circle analysis tools for platform motion envelopes
- Cost estimation tools for array components
- 2D and 3D plotting of array layouts including platforms, moorings, cables, anchors, bathymetry, soil types, boundaries, exclusion zones, and platform motion envelopes
- Example scripts covered many features of the toolset
- Many other floating array modeling, design, and analysis capabilities
Thanks to everyone who contributed to improving the capabilities and stability of the toolset. Continued enhancements and new features are planned for future releases.
